How We Work With You

We understand that each person who enters aged care has their own unique set of circumstances and challenges and therefore outcomes need to be tailored to that individual’s needs. We also understand that time is of the essence and decisions often need to be made quickly.

With these considerations in mind, we follow a structured process to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about your aged care:

Step 1 – Initial Conversation

Typically, the first contact will be either a telephone call or an email. At this stage we will have a conversation about your situation and have you complete a confidential questionnaire to obtain relevant information relating to your assets, liabilities, income, expenditure, objectives and other needs.

Step 2 – Appointment

We encourage your family to attend a meeting facilitated by one of Segue’s Accredited Aged Care Professionals ™ where we can explore the family’s priorities, preferences and concerns and arrive at a common view of the direction you wish to take. We will verify the information provided in the confidential questionnaire and discuss the kinds of aged care fees that will potentially be payable. At the end of the meeting we can let you know whether we can assist you and, if we believe we can help you, we will provide you with a quote for the work we will undertake for you.

Step 3 – Preparation of the Strategy Paper

Once you have agreed to work with us, our Accredited Professionals will prepare a strategy paper which will consider several different options for you. The paper will focus on:

  • Short term strategies which are strategies that can be implemented immediately to improve your situation; and
  • Longer term strategies to ensure sustainability or to rearrange assets which may take longer to restructure (i.e. the family home), as well as looking at what other things may change which have to be planned for.

Step 4 – Advice Delivery Meeting

Once the strategy paper has been completed, we will invite you and your family in for a second meeting to discuss the document and help you make a decision. The aim of this meeting is to help you make a fully informed decision about funding your aged care needs and understand the outcome of that decision.
